Test / Proof Rolling

Test / Proof rolling is done by Site Geotechnical using Static smooth steel wheeled rollers with a mass of not less than 12 t, Pneumatic tyred plant with a mass of not less than 20 t or truck with rear axle or axles loaded to not less than 8 t each as a guide following AS3798.  The main purpose of test rolling is to ensure compacted subgrades including either fill or natural soils are  capable of withstanding test rolling without visible deformation or springing.

In some cases we have used use an impact roller (non-circular towed or self-propelled module that imparts a high energy dynamic force) to identify weak zones or soft spots.

In cases where density tests are marginally below specification requirements visual appraisal (including test rolling, if appropriate) may override test results for relative compaction.

Thank you for getting back to us so quickly, we really appreciate it. We are really excited to utilise option 5 as the location of our AGs are now shallower within our pavement and hopefully we will encounter no/minimal clashes with existing shallow services. Thank you again and we look forward to working with the team in the future.
