Detailed Geotechnical investigation followed by considered structural design

Detailed Geotechnical investigation followed by considered structural design using sound engineering principles and good workmanship by the builder and his contractors will lead to a building that will stand the test of time.

Unfortunetly #distressedhomeowners buildings do occur and there are always reasons why. Site Geotechnical have experience in investigating what went wrong and how future disasters can be averted.

We are not always aware of all the history related to a distressed structure from the beginning of the project however initial defects in buildings should be treated as early warning signs that things may not have been built properly from the beginning and can lead to poor performance into the future.

In our experience some builders have a blasé approach to the longevity of structures with profit being made from what they don’t do, partially related to clients accepting the lowest tender or price and no one being held to account for shortcomings. In many cases defects and warranty periods are not long enough for owners to realise the consequences of defects until its too late or the warranty period has expired which leaves the building owner at a loss (even with insurance).

In most cases defects can be minimised by obtaining a well considered geotechnical report as well as a detailed plan prepared by a qualified structural engineer using suitable engineering judgement and a reputable builder following these designs and knowing the difference between good and poor construction practices. The success of any project requires the co-operation of all involved. #construction #design #distressedhomeowners #distressedassets
